Louis fastest during season-closing F2 test

Louis Delétraz brought his 2018 season to a successful close in Abu Dhabi yesterday as he emerged from the FIA Formula 2 Championship post-season test as the fastest driver across all three days.

Fresh from a successful maiden F1 outing with Haas F1 Team earlier in the week, the 21-year-old was one of the star performers at the Yas Marina Circuit in F2 machinery.

Louis linked up with the newly-crowned 2018 Teams’ Champions, Carlin, for the test and was fastest during two of the three days.

His test programme consisted of race runs during the daytime and performance under the Yas Marina floodlights in the evening. He lapped 169 times during six individual sessions, clocking up 924 competitive kilometres in his ADSS-supported car.

His lap of 1:49.638, set during the final session on Saturday, proved to be the fastest of the entire test.

The Swiss driver said: “The test was great and I’m very happy with what we achieved – especially setting the fastest time across all three days.

“It was enjoyable to run with Carlin and to get to know each other a little better. We tried lots of different things during the test and I think we worked well together and did a good job.”

Louis’ was pleased to bring the curtain down on a successful week of racing and testing in Abu Dhabi and has taken great motivation from his latest on-track achievements.

He scored a pair of P6 finishes during the final F2 races of the season with Charouz Racing System before then impressing the Haas F1 Team with his speed and ability as he confidently lapped Yas Marina 117 times during the second day of the Pirelli tyre test on Wednesday.

“It’s been a very positive week for me,” he said. “I’ve been quick in all the cars I’ve driven and I really couldn’t ask for a better end to the my season. I’m hugely motivated for the future and seeing what the plans will be.”
