Louis fastest in F2 post-season testing

For the second successive year, Louis Delétraz was the driver to beat as three days of FIA Formula 2 Championship post-season testing drew to a close in Abu Dhabi today.

The 22-year-old emerged as the fastest driver at Yas Marina Circuit with a lap time of 1:50.124 – a performance that nobody else was able to beat.

It was the second time in as many seasons that ADSS-supported Louis has set the benchmark F2 testing pace at the end of a gruelling racing season.

Representing the Charouz Racing System squad, Louis topped the session time sheets on two occasions, completed 222 laps and covered 1232 kilometres.

He successfully completed a variety of qualifying and race simulation runs, the results of which gave the Swiss driver plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

“It was a great three days of testing after the race weekend and I’m really happy with what we achieved, Louis explained.

“I know the Charouz guys from when I drove there in 2018 so it was pretty easy to slot back in and everything was smooth.

“The car was strong and we worked on the points that I felt would make it more to my liking. But I think the performance across the test was super.”

Louis is working hard to finalise his racing plans for the 2020 season. But he plans to enjoy a short break first after completing a gruelling 12-round F2 season and scoring three podiums.

“Obviously, it’s only testing here in Abu Dhabi and there are no points for that. However, it’s always great to end the year on top,” he said.

“Sincere thanks to everyone that’s been involved in my season this year; my amazing sponsors, Carlin, Charouz Racing System and, of course, my family. Now we see what the future holds.”
